Personal Stories Sharing
Hello, I'm Alexandra, a mum of six with two secondary school children still living at home with me and my husband in Wilton. We have a unique and enriching interfaith marriage; while my husband is not Jewish, I am a proud member of the Progressive Judaism movement.
I founded the Salisbury Women's Interfaith Group because I deeply believe that while we may not be able to change the whole world, we can make a difference within our communities. It's crucial to start conversations, understand each other's ways of life, and build bridges instead of starting conflicts.
I strongly believe that once we begin talking, we will realize we have more in common than we might have thought. Especially since various conflicts began around the world, I felt a strong need to bring local women together, regardless of their faith or even if they have no faith.
I hope that through building friendships and fostering respect and dialogue, we can make a positive impact on our children and families. When they see that we can come together and respect one another despite our differences, we set a powerful example for the future.
I am fortunate to have 2 friends who have agreed to help me run this group, Philippa lives near me and is a very interesting lady who is very interested in different faiths and practices Buddhism and meditation.
My other Friend Fiona, whom I have known for over 10 years now and this Interfaith Group have put us both together again. Fiona is another special lady who really has inner strength and I admire her for that reason. Fiona is a Member of the Salisbury Methodist Church, it's such a lovely building so light and inviting and very forthcoming to let us hold our first monthly meetings in their building, which I am very grateful for.
